He brought a guitar to a show, and because I have so many guitars, it sat in a case for a very long time. When it came time to make Maroon, I thought, 'Why don't I bring that Fano in?'"
Ed has 4 Fano Satellites. I guess he really really enjoys playing them. The original one Ed was given was the green gold pearl guitar. He then got the white, tangerine, and burst guitars, in that order. I don't know why, but he seems to like the white one the most. It has appeared more TV appearances, and at live shows (that I've seen) than the others, and was in two music videos (Pinch Me and Too Little Too Late). It was also the Fano he brought to the Disc One recording session in Toronto (where It's Only Me and Thanks That Was Fun were recorded) based on photos from the studio of all their guitars (though it is possible another was brought and was being played at the time).
The original green gold guitar is made of swamp ash. The rest are mahogany, with a flame maple top on the burst guitar. They all have maple necks with rosewood fretboards, and an adjustable stoptail bridge (the Green Gold has an tune-o-matic bridge). They all have Seymour Duncan '59 (neck) and JB (bridge) humbucker pickups.
On the Peep Show tour, Ed is using the burst guitar as a tuned down guitar for Take It Outside. The Green-Gold hasn't been seen in a while.
